I would STRONGLY suggest getting the crown on there ASAP... Having a broken tooth is:
a) annoying/painful
b) likely going to need to be removed and replaced with a fake tooth screwed into my jaw
Trust me, it's easy to just figure that the tooth will be fine, but I'm going to be paying out the ass to have that damn screw put in there.. I don't see how they can fix it.. It's broken entirely in half.
If you can't afford a crown, at least try to fashion one out of wood and liquid nails it on there

I've had two root canals.. one in a upper front tooth (the one next to the fang) and one in a lower back teeth - had three fucking roots done in that one, cost me almost $1000. Not a crown on either of them.
At some point the back one is probably gonna need a crown or something, but that's not happening right now.
