Bio:
I read a hell of a lot, however it's mostly non-fiction science related literature. My main interests could be listed as astronomy, evolution, Earth history, biology, psychology (mostly why people think the way they do) and the human condition. I'm studying Physics in my spare time, which I usually have a lot of, and have plans to attend University full time next year in order to works towards my Master's. As for hobbies I take my telescope out sometimes, play on my 360 other times, and somewhere in between everything else I hold down a full-time job and sleep.

I found this on Yahoo News a few days ago.

"As financial workers suffer through tumultuous times on Wall Street, some are turning to an old source of solace: religion."

The entire purpose of an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent father figure is to be the Superman. We are mortal, he's immortal. We fear, he's fearless. We make mistakes, he's perfect. He is everything we cannot be, and it's so obvious why that is. I can't understand why more people don't see that.

In reply to this comment by Raigen:
I quote from Quirkology by Richard Wiseman (an awesome read, by the way): Chapter 3 "Believing six impossible things before breakfast: Psychology enters the twilight zone.", pg 102-103

[...]

When times are hard, which I'm sure they are in some of the countries used in the study conducted which is discussed in the video, more people will want some sort of "control" in their out-of-control lives. They find that sense of "comfort" in handing control over to forces they believe to be "more powerful" than just mortal men and women.

Ah, cool cool - I think I've seen the giant sign from off the 401 for that one too if it's the same one I'm thinking of.

In reply to this comment by Raigen:
No, sir, I work at the Schneiders facility in Kitchener.

In reply to this comment by Krupo:
Dude, I was planning on writing on ode to the bacon factory next to the 400. Is that where you work?

In reply to this comment by Raigen:
I think someone is both retarded and not trained properly. I also work in a distrubtion warehouse for Maple Leaf Foods. There's sprinkler lines, ammonia pipes, incoming and outgoing waterlines, you name it. The first thing I was shown when I got my Narrow Aisle Stacker license was the emergency sprinkler shut off valves. In case you break one, you run to this room by the take-off belts and shut off three valves which will stop the water from doing, well, what we all just saw.

Thanks for the Pat Condell video. While aggressively toned, I almost always appreciate the message.

Seriously, thanks a lot for this. I've been meaning to write out a paragraph length explanation of the process, but haven't found the words. Again, thanks.
